I used to watch TV news and yell at the box. Now I jump up from the couch, sit at the computer and begin to type laughing maniacally saying "Wait until they read this." It's more fun than squashing tadpoles

Driver's License for Illegal Aliens

The issue of illegal immigration spawns some total absurdity on the part of our government that the youngest of children would find ridiculous. A most glaring example of this is the "compromise" worked out between the Dept. Of Homeland Security and the Governor of NY, Eliot Spitzer.

Under the compromise, New York will produce an "enhanced driver's license" that will be as secure as a passport. It is intended for people who soon will need to meet such ID requirements, even for a short drive to Canada.

A second version of the license will meet new federal standards of the Real ID Act. That law is designed to make it much harder for illegal immigrants or would-be terrorists to obtain licenses.

A third type of license will be available to undocumented immigrants. Spitzer has said this ID will make the state more secure by bringing those people "out of the shadows" and into American society, and will lower auto insurance rates.
The obvious question here is if we are going to give people who are here illegally an official document that is specifically different than everyone else's we then don't we just send them back? The answer should be obvious also, it is because the politicians don't want to send them back. They want to buy the votes of illegals who will soon enough get the right to vote just as the politicians are giving them the right to drive. The motor voter law was crafted with this kind of nonsense in mind. If anyone is fool enough to believe the intentions are honorable one need only look deeper into what is going on with these "secure" licenses.

The administration has not finalized standards for Real ID-compliant driver's licenses. Spitzer said he believed the new licenses would meet those standards or come very close.

Many states say it is too expensive to comply with the law; seven of them have passed legislation opposing Real ID. Neither the governor nor Chertoff would say how much it would cost to put the system in place or who would pay for it.

How pray tell does one comply with a law that has no standard? Well, one just makes it up as one goes along. By the time the government agencies get done with these standards the damage will be done. Citizen's will be marginalized and their rights conferred to people who scoff at our laws. I'm not just talking about politicians who have little regard for any principle that interferes with their acquisition and exercise of power but people who break the law to come here.

As for who will pay for it, that should be obvious, it is you and I. The citizens who are seeing their rights and their country's sovereignty erode daily by the very people elected to represent THEM are merely the sheep to be fleeced by those same representatives to finance the various vote buying schemes they concoct to stay in office. Try and not pay those taxes and one will see government at its most efficient and strictly legal exercise of its power.

GOP Rep. Thomas M. Reynolds, who represents the Buffalo suburbs, said he fears that Spitzer "is taking this state down a risky path" by giving any kind of license to illegal immigrants.

Duh!

Obama Does Not Put hand Over Heart During Anthem

I saw a report about this on Fox Morning News but I have yet to find any other report other than this nor seen the video since I get a "temporarily unavailable" message when I click on it.

Barrack Obama was standing with other candidates for president while the National anthem was being played. All had their hands over their hearts except Obama. I have been to many events where the anthem has been played and have been distressed at the number of people who neglect this simple protocol. One is supposed to salute the flag while the anthem is played. For a presidential candidate to neglect do so is double distressing. One would think after the flap over his removing his flag pin that this would be something he would not forget to do. He said the pin was unnecessary to demonstrate his patriotism. In my opinion by not saluting the National Anthem he has said enough about the subject.

In his defense the singer was so truly horrible that one could make the case that he did not know she was singing the National Anthem.

Update: Got a good link to the video here.

One Reason Why I Think Liberals are Insane

Remarks made on the floor of the House of Representatives by Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA) during the debate on the SCHIP:

"Where are you going to get that money? Are you going to tell us lies like you're telling us today? Is that how you're going to fund the war? You don't have money to fund the war or children. But you're going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the president's amusement."

If this is not enough just read the comments. How anyone could defend this nit wit is beyond me.

The Great Health Care Debate

I can't turn on the tube without hearing about some politician yammering about fixing the heath care crisis or some such headline grabbing cliché. They all talk from the assumption that people in this country can't get seen by a doctor unless they have someone else paying for it. The truth is anyone can get health care. If that were not the case the waiting rooms of the nation's hospitals would not be full of illegal immigrants. If one wants to go some place where you can't get health care just go to Canada or the UK.

In those countries you can be turned away simply because you are too old. They don't say that, they just say there is nothing they can do for you. The debate is not about people getting health care, it's about buying votes from people who think they will get something for nothing. With the government involved in getting everyone insured you will get nothing for a lot of somethings.

Think about this. Every program the government runs is running out of money every year. Have you ever heard an elected official say that such and such program has met its goals with money to spare? They are always carping about not having enough. They never come in at or near the projections of cost. If something that is working needs to be broken, get the government to run it. They are still paying farmers not to grow crops for heaven's sake.

Secondly, with private insurance even outside of any government mandate, one must consider that it is essential for the future of any company to make a profit to stay in business. Your premium is going to be more that what the average for your demographic pays for heath care. I'm not saying this is a bad thing. It is just one factor one must consider when one is deciding if insurance is necessary. That is right. If it is necessary. If one is under thirty, don't smoke, abuse drugs or alcohol or do stupid things like riding bulls than you will probably not need health insurance. One could deposit an amount similar to your premium into a savings account and come out way ahead.
If anything needs to be done it would be getting the lawyers and their leach clients out of the business of suing every time something doesn't come out perfect. Doctors make mistakes and should be accountable, but just because one did not get the outcome one was hoping for does not mean the doctor screwed up. The threat of law suits greatly increases the cost of delivering care. Lawyers get rich off chasing ambulances, just ask John Edwards. Since most politicians are lawyers there is small hope that they will stall the gravy train.

Even so if the government is in charge forget about any compensation for the neglect one will suffer. If Canada and the UK are any example that will be quite a lot. It owns the courts and makes the laws so bet on the politicians finally putting the breaks on that when it's their heads on the block despite the fact that health care professionals will become just more members of the bureaucracy. Think of that for a minuet. The DMV as a doctor's office.

This brings me back to the issue of illegal immigrants. The hospital waiting rooms are full of them. They get care and you and I pay for it. Clean up the illegal mess and watch the cost of running a hospital come down. If there is a crisis this is where it is and one need only point to the government as the source. Politics is a great scam. Create a problem, pat yourself on the back for discovering it then invent a program to fix it. When the program makes matters worse just ask for more money. What's not to like? If we are lucky this wont be the future of health care.

Nobel PeaCe Prize

How does making a movie about global warming advance peace or improve the lot of humanity?

It doesn't. Just like I'm hard pressed to find any justification for Yasser Arafat as a recipient. Take a look at the list. Kofi Annan?
where on God's earth has anyone at the NU brought peace? Last I checked
they show up and stand around while everyone gets killed.

It is of no consequence. The Nobel committee has been handing out gifts to their ideological fiends for the last couple of decades trying to convince the rest of us they they matter. Like the Oscars, Globes and Emmy's the Nobel's are a joke.

The Nobel PC Prize. Do you think anyone would notice the change?

Welcome to California, Abandon Hope All Who Enter

If one is curious as to how America will be under Democrat control one need only look at California. The signing of SB 777 and AB394 institute an era of indoctrination of public school students into the homosexual lifestyle. No longer can textbooks Refer to Mom and Dad or Husband and Wife. All forms of "gender" must be treated as equal contrary to the wishes of Californian citizens who expressed a desire to protect traditional marriage. Undeterred by the will of the people the government of California has passed these laws that make it a crime to express any preference that does not include the acceptance of even the most deviant forms of homosexuality. What transpired at the Fulsom Street Fair will be protected against criticism by the force of law. To see images of the Fair you can go to Here if you dare. I warn you it IS pornographic.

The Campaign for Children and Families has an analisys.

The lines are more clearly being drawn. Any who are on the side of traditional morality are the targets of the hedonist culture. As with the Islamo fascists the Hedonists will tolerate only complete acceptance. Less than that will be punished with the force of government coercion. Look at California for a vision of Democrat America.

Don't Honor the Flag

The nonsense that is bred from the colonization of this country by Mexico was demonstrated in no uncertain terms by an incident in Reno, NV. Jim Broussard, a US veteran, heard that a business owner had raised the Mexican flag on his flag pole above the American flag. This is not just unpatriotic but is a violation of US statute.

(c) No other flag or pennant should be placed above or, if on the same level, to the right of the flag of the United States of America, except during church services conducted by naval chaplains at sea, when the church pennant may be flown above the flag during church services for the personnel of the Navy. No person shall display the flag of the United Nations or any other national or international flag equal, above, or in a position of superior prominence or honor to, or in place of, the flag of the United States at any place within the United States or any Territory or possession thereof: Provided, That nothing in this section shall make unlawful the continuance of the practice heretofore followed of displaying the flag of the United Nations in a position of superior prominence or honor, and other national flags in positions of equal prominence or honor, with that of the flag of the United States at the headquarters of the United Nations.

So Mr. Broussard went to the site and removed the two flags, keeping the American flag and dumping the Mexican flag on the ground. Of course the person who is in trouble with the law is Mr. Broussard. No authority seemed to want to inform the business owner that he was in violation of statute but they are real interested in bringing a patriotic veteran to justice.

You can see the video here.

The usual suspects are clamoring for Mr. Broussard's head. The ACLU is making the claim that violation of the flag statute is not enforceable. Not surprisingly they say that to enforce such rules would be a violation of free speech. One might be surprised to know the ACLU holds a double standard for free speech but I doubt it. While they are ready to defend the right of the business owner to express his disdain for the country he is living in they see only criminal intent in the actions of a man who fought for this nation to express his love for the flag he fought under by upholding the statute that honors that flag.

A similar situation is occurring in New Mexico.

The New Mexico League of United Latin American Citizens has asked state and federal officials to investigate a University of New Mexico student who is accused of tearing down a Mexican flag.

Peter Lynch, 30, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a charge of criminal damage to property after tearing up a Mexican flag on campus last month. He has admitted tearing down the flag but said he was acting out of patriotism because the Mexican flag wasn't accompanied by an American flag.

"This was a hate crime that can no way be hidden under the color of patriotic," said John Moya, president of the Albuquerque LULAC Council.

OK, one can burn the US flag and be supported but the ACLU but destroy a Mexican flag and that is a hate crime. Go figure. The ACLU is nowhere to be found for the defense of this man's free speech rights. They are to busy trying to fry a veteran for expressing his patriotism.

Congress is Full of Patriots

Back in high school when it was so important to be cool there was always some dork who was ready to tell anyone and everyone just how cool he was. Later in life one could encounter a similar scene where some insecure snob would "casually" refer to the designer shoes or the logo on the key chain. In all this the undeniable fact is that everyone knew these people smelled like a deli because they were full of bologna.

Now we have politicians competing to convince us that they are full of patriotism, faith or endowed with the spirit of Ronald Reagan Their problem is their actions speak louder than their words. Democrats bristle their chicken feathers defending their support for the troops while they stumble over each other to cut off the money needed for that support. Republicans claim the mantle of Reagan while packing on the pork. More irritating is the practice of claiming respect for another person just before tearing apart their character such as the recent visit of Gen. Patraeus to the senate or the puffing over the blatant misrepresentation of comments by Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh. When it comes to virtues such as patriotism, faith or responsibility just as with the more mundane issue of social status, if one has to say it, then more than likely one doesn't have it.

A friend once described the difference between Middleburg, VA where all the horsey people live and Warrenton, VA just down the road where the rest of the horse farms are. He told me that one goes to a party in Middleburg where people stand around and talk about how wealthy they are but they serve cheap liquor. At a party in Warrenton, people stand around complaining about how poor they are but they serve the best liquor.

Normal people need not be told who supports the troops or who is looking out for the nation's interests. The problem is finding anyone in office who isn't more interested in their own power and prestige. They are chanting all the right words but they are serving us rot gut.
