Forgotten Soldiers

Reportedly, our one-party government comprising the congress and the administration, having taken giant steps toward the destruction of our economy with massive giveaway, vote-grabbing, spending programs, both foreign (Gaza) and domestic, sometimes euphemistically labeled "stimulus" efforts, now uses that spending as an excuse to emasculate our soldiers with immediate defense budget cuts.

Typically, these soldiers are devoted to the Constitution and highly skilled in what they do. Under-strength, they serve repetitive tours in combat zones in the everlasting World War against fundamental Islamists while their families soldier on without them. Equipment damaged and destroyed in combat needs repair and replacement. Advanced materiel, and ever more sophisticated weapons systems research and development are desperately needed as Iran perfects its nuclear capability. We do need to man, equip and train a separate conventional-war-fighting armed forces group to cope with the threats from Red China, Russia, Iran and North Korea.

To think of cutting instead of increasing defense funds at this time is not only callous and dis-respectful toward our soldiers but also Treasonous.

To paraphrase Jeremiah Wright, who cursed America, SHAME on you, Nancy Pelosi, SHAME on you Barney Frank, SHAME on you, Harry Reid, SHAME on you, Hillary Clinton and SHAME on you, Barack Obama.

Now is the time to beat plowshares into swords - to gear up a massive, forward-looking defense industry employing high-tech labor - vice make-work highway projects with unskilled workers leaning on shovels, like FDR's Work Projects Administation and Public Works Administration "workers" during the Depression

Duty-dodgers just give speeches. Soldiers serve.

Obama's Army of Advisers

How easy is it to know if a candidate has core beliefs that drive his effort to gain elective office or if he is just another politician trying to game the polls to win at any cost? Just count the number of advisers. In the crucial area of foreign relations Obama has no less than 300 advisers.

Every day around 8 a.m., foreign policy aides at Senator Barack Obama's Chicago campaign headquarters send him two e-mails: a briefing on major world developments over the previous 24 hours and a set of questions, accompanied by suggested answers, that the candidate is likely to be asked about international relations during the day....

...Behind the e-mail messages is a tight-knit group of aides supported by a huge 300-person foreign policy campaign bureaucracy, organized like a mini State Department, to assist a candidate whose limited national security experience remains a concern to many voters.

"It is unwieldy, no question," said Denis McDonough, 38, Obama's top foreign policy aide, speaking of an infrastructure that has been divided into 20 teams based on regions and issues, and that has recently absorbed, with some tensions, the top foreign policy advisers from Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign...

...Obama's Republican rival, Senator John McCain of Arizona, has a far smaller and looser foreign policy advisory operation, about 75 people in all, and none are organized into teams.

300 advisers broke up into 20 teams so Obama can know what to say about foreign policy matters? What more evidence does one need to confirm his lack of experience and vision? If he has any underlying philosophy that drives him he is hiding it behind the green curtain of his advisory teams.

Worse though is who the people are who make up this mob. No less than Madeleine Albright and Warren Christopher two of the most clueless secretaries of state we have had and Anthony Lake, Lee Hamilton, Richard Clarke all warmer over dinosaurs from the blame America first crowd. Here is what Ralph Peters said about them in The New York Post.

These are the people whose watch saw the first attack on the World Trade Center, Mogadishu, Rwanda, the Srebrenica massacre, a pass for the Russians on Chechnya, the Khobar Towers bombing, the attacks on our embassies in Africa, the near-sinking of the USS Cole - oh, and the US bombing of the Chinese embassy in Belgrade.

Obama is either full of bologna or clueless, neither of which would be good for this country. Just looking at who he has surrounded himself with I vote for clueless

Sgt. Keith Matthew Maupin's Remains Found in Iraq

Matthew Maupin, a 20-year-old University of Cincinnati student and Sam's Club employee, had been in Iraq just six weeks when his fuel convoy was ambushed on April 9, 2004. Members of the Army Reserve's 724th Transportation Company were attacked near Baghdad, and Maupin was captured.

A week later, Arab television network Al-Jazeera showed a video of Maupin sitting on the floor surrounded by five masked men holding automatic rifles.

A later Al-Jazeera video, deemed of poor quality, showed insurgents assembling a firing squad to kill an American prisoner. But Army officials said the tape didn't clearly identify the prisoner.

His remains were found recently somewhere in Iraq. I don't suppose the Code Pink people will be protesting an obvious war crime such as this. They are too worried about prisoners we have who might have underwear put over their head. The death of a prisoner held by our adversaries can't compare in their eyes to prisoners in Gitmo sitting around twiddling their thumbs.

Truth is if the tiny gaggle of women who agitate for our surrender in Iraq were all stacked up on top of each other would not reach the stature necessary to tie the laces on Sgt. Maupin's boots.

More than 100 people familiar with the Maupin family's plight turned up last night at the Yellow Ribbon Support Center east of Cincinnati for an impromptu candlelight vigil, family friend June Izzi-Bailey said.

"Everybody came to see them," Izzi-Bailey said. "They're holding up as well as they can, considering that they were really expecting him to come home."

The Maupins created the support center, a nonprofit group dedicated to improving troop morale. Within two years of their son's capture, the Maupins and the center had mailed nearly 30,000 care packages to soldiers; they included pictures of their son and the request that they keep on the lookout for him.

Obama on Iran

Following is an excerpt from an interview with Barack Obama that will appear this weekend in the Yedioth Ahronoth daily newspaper, an Israeli news organization.

You have said you would be ready to talk to "enemy leaders." Some Israelis are skeptical that just by speaking with the leaders of Iran, you could prevent them from producing a nuclear weapon. If diplomacy fails, would you support using force against Iran, as Israel did against Iraq in 1981?

I don't believe that diplomacy alone will stop the Iranians from pursuing nuclear weapons. I believe it will require all facts of our national power to achieve this important goal.

The gravest threat to Israel today comes from Iran, where a radical regime continues to pursue the ability to build a nuclear weapon, and continues its support for terrorism across the region. President Ahmadinejad continues his offensive denials of the Holocaust, and his disturbing denunciations of Israel? Recently he referred to Israel as a "deadly microbe" and a "savage animal." Threats of Israel's destruction cannot be dismissed as rhetoric. The threat from Iran is real, and my goal as president will be to eliminate it.

The time has come to talk directly to the Iranians, and to lay out our clear terms: an end to their pursuit of nuclear weapons; an end to their support of terrorism; and an end to their threats against Israel and other countries in the region. To achieve this goal, I believe that we must be prepared to offer incentives like the prospect of better relations and integration in the international community; as well as disincentives like the prospect of increased sanctions.

What kind of nonsense is this "we must be prepared to offer incentives like the prospect of better relations and integration in the international community"? Does he really think that the Iranians care about that?

We now know that he will not use force against Iran. "[T]he prospect of increased sanctions" does not qualify as force. If they were a viable option we would not be in Iraq today. The only effect sanctions will have on Iran will be to let the whole issue fester until it is too late to deal with it. Iranian President Ahmadinejad is already defying the UN.

The U.N. Security Council has demanded Iran halt uranium enrichment, the part of its nuclear programme that most worries the West because the process can potentially be used to make material for bombs.

Iran has refused to halt the work. It says it is seeking to master nuclear technology so it can make fuel for a planned network of nuclear power plants and save its huge oil and gas reserves for export.

France and Britain have submitted a third sanctions resolution against Iran calling for measures including asset freezes and mandatory travel bans for specific Iranian officials.

Sounds just like the song and dance we went through with Saddam. We all know how well that worked. The UN let resolution after resolution be passed and ignored until WE went in and did something about it. What planet is Obama from that he thinks it will be any different this time.

Obama will be the second coming of Jimmy Carter.

Pakistan's War

Do we want Pakistan to commit suicide? Could it be that President Musharraf is more straightforward about his war on TERRORISTS (groups of people) than are we in our War on Terror (a war tactic)?

Internet searches of print media indicate there is strong Saudi Wahabi support of al Qaeda and the Taliban in the operation of mosques and madrassas in Pakistan, and in terrorist activities in the region.

History tells us that, in Gaza, adoption of the democratic election process put the terrorists in power; and in Tunisia the same thing nearly happened, until the democratic election process was suspended.

Why, then, do we tell President Musharraf he should not declare martial law or postpone elections, and that he - unlike our president - cannot be both the leader of his country and its military commander-in-chief? Mr Musharraf often appears in civilian clothes; and our president symbolically wears a uniform - e.g., aboard an aircraft carrier after having piloted a warplane.

Might it be appropriate for our president to pressure the House of Saud to demilitarize its Wahabi terrorists?

His point about democracy is quiet poignant. Democracy is not the end all political system that politicians want to make it out to be. It can and has been just as screwy as any other form of governance, it just has a bit of a better record at the moment. For any system to be successful it need only do four things:

1. Protect personal property rights.

2. Guard against enemies foreign and domestic.

3. Ensure the common currency is sound.

4. Dispense justice fairly without regard to status or reputation.

Everything else is gravy. With those four things peace and prosperity will abound. So to be critical of Pakistan because it is not as democratic as we would like it to be is missing the point.

His chastising of those who are calling for President Musharraf to give up his being head of the military is spot on. Our President is chief executive and Commander-in-Chief also, always has been. Pretty hypocritical for US politicians and officials to act like Musharraf is somehow engaged is skullduggery for holding both positions also.

As for the Saudis, they have been playing both sides against he middle for a long time. If some diplomatic pressure needs to be applied in that region of the world, perhaps that is a good place to start.

One Reason Why I Think Liberals are Insane

Remarks made on the floor of the House of Representatives by Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA) during the debate on the SCHIP:

"Where are you going to get that money? Are you going to tell us lies like you're telling us today? Is that how you're going to fund the war? You don't have money to fund the war or children. But you're going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the president's amusement."

If this is not enough just read the comments. How anyone could defend this nit wit is beyond me.

Democrats Make Pre-emptive Strike on Iraq Reports

The expected ooze of slime from Capitol Hill hit the airways the day before the Congressional testimony by General Petraeus and United States ambassador Ryan C. Crocker. Those great fonts of truth and objectivity, Senators Biden, Kennedy, Feinstein and Reid are all out calling the General a lying boot lick.

Mr. Biden said that he respected the general, but that his expected analysis was "dead, flat wrong."

Saying he respects the General right before he calls him full of bologna doesn't cut it.

They all find some excuse to make the claim that we are headed for another Vietnam while conveniently leaving out the abandonment of support to South Vietnam by Congress that directly led to its fall. If these nitwits have their way Iraq will become another Vietnam for he same reason. Incredibly, the very same people who a unwilling to do anything about the insolvency of Social Security want to tell the government of that country how and when to solve its problems.

Harry Reid Has No Clue

yeah and i got a quote for that douche harry reid. these families need us here. obviously he has never been in iraq. or atleast the area worth seeing. the parts where insurgency is rampant and the buildings are blown to pieces. we need to stay here and help rebuild. if iraq didnt want us here then why do we have IP’s voluntering everyday to rebuild their cities. and working directly with us too. same with the IA’s. it sucks that iraqi’s have more patriotism for a country that has turned to complete shit more than the people in america who drink starbucks everyday. we could leave this place and say we are sorry to the terrorists. and then we could wait for 3,000 more american civilians to die before we say “hey thats not nice” again. and the sad thing is after we WIN this war. people like him will say he was there for us the whole time.and for messages back home. i have a wife back home who is going through a tough time. i just cant wait to be back home and see everyone.haha and i cant wait to go back home and get some starbucks. i love it when those people serve me. hahaha”

These same Democrats stabbed the South Vietnamese in the back and are now gleefully sharpening their blades for another betrayal of people we pledged to help and the citizens we sent to do the job.

White House Retreats on Pick for Ambassador

Democrats who are always shedding tears for the free speech of people who wish to do harm to our nation or offer pornography in our libraries are automatically disqualifying anyone who gave to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth from political appointments. The same people who railroaded Scotter Libby are sobbing over the politics of personal destruction. True to form the Republicans are handing over their lunch money to the Stalinists hypocrite's without a whimper.

President Bush bowed to Democratic pressure yesterday and abruptly withdrew the ambassadorial nomination of a "Swift Boat" supporter, as the White House said it was unaware the nominee aided the group that undermined Sen. John Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign....

... Mr. Kerry said, "Sam Fox had every opportunity to disavow the politics of personal destruction and to embrace the truth. He chose not to.

"The White House made the right decision to withdraw the nomination. I hope this signals a new day in political discourse," he said.

Nothing new here. The Democrats cross their eyes and the Republicans wet their pants. It's a wonder that he President hasn't rolled over on the War on Terror yet. He has plenty of Republicans in Congress that will jump at their first opportunity. It only took an average of $1.2 million in pork to buy off the remaining Democrats to get them to tun their back on our nation. It has to be a matter of time before they figure out the amount the RINO's will sell their country out for.

The lesson here is if you want to work in government, don't make a Democrat take responcability for actions. If you are not a Democrat you and your ancestors better be pure as the driven snow.

We still have to wage a protracted struggle against bourgeois and petty-bourgeois ideology. It is wrong not to understand this and to give up ideological struggle. All erroneous ideas, all poisonous weeds, all ghosts and monsters, must be subjected to criticism; in no circumstance should they be allowed to spread unchecked.

Pelosi Plays Hardball with Code Pink

One has to feel sorry for the nit wits who thought the Democrats spoke out against the War on Terror because they don't think war will stop the terror only to find the Dems only oppose it when they perceive political advantage.

Four members of the anti-war group Code Pink were arrested outside the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) Thursday afternoon, following an announcement that they would seek to take over the office.

The group's members had planned to hold a symbolic "Pin the war on the Donkey" demonstration at Pelosi's office to show their frustration with the Democratic leadership's inaction on ending the war in Iraq.

However, Capitol Police prevented the taping of a drawn donkey to the wall.

Code Pink members were crying outside Pelosi's office. When asked why, Rae Abileah, 24, said she was crying out of "outrage that this is all we can get from the Democrats," referring to the Iraq supplemental funding bill, scheduled for a vote Friday.

"We're just heartbroken that Nancy Pelosi has decided to keep funding George Bush's war, and now the war belongs to the Democrats as well as the Republicans," said Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin. "We thought we were going to get a change when they came into power."

Then again, I'm more amused than sorry.

Tom Davis RINO

Rep. Tom Davis of Virginia has his sights on the governor's mansion. His recent vote in favor of the resolution to oppose the troop surge in Iraq has ended any support he may have received from me. It is weenie Republicans such as Mr. Davis and Sen. John Warner that drove me from the party several years ago. It was frustrating to see elected Republicans actively undermined by the "big tent " Republicans who have consistently delivered victories to the Democrats while back stabbing the conservatives that brought the party into the majority for the first time in forty years. Tom Davis has played into the hands of the same people who betrayed the South Vietnamese when Congress voted to cut funds to that country in spite of the promises to stand behind them if the North ever invaded again. The problem this time is our own troops will have Congress pull the rug out from underneath them. Say what you will I do not see how this vote can be considered patriotic.

Navy Exchanges Fire With Suspected Pirates

Somali pirates have been plaguing the coast since the country fell into anarchy. Following the attempted taking of a cruise liner last year an international force has been patrolling the Indian Ocean coast.

The Cape St. George, a guided-missile cruiser, and Gonzalez, a guided-missile destroyer, were conducting maritime security operations in the area. They are based in Norfolk, Va.

The MO of these pirates is to seize ships and ransom the crew. There is reasonable expectations that this is a part of al-Qeada's financing efforts.

The suspected pirates then opened fire on the Navy ships. The Cape St. George and Gonzalez returned fire with small arms in self defense, officials said.

One suspected pirate was killed and a fire ignited aboard the main suspect vessel. Boarding teams from Cape St. George and Gonzalez took 12 other suspects, including the five who were injured, into custody. The Navy boarding teams also confiscated an RPG launcher and automatic weapons.

No U.S. sailors were injured in the engagement, officials said..

US Navy Captures Pirates of Somalia Coast

In November I wrote of the growing problem of piracy off the coast of Somalia. So far 23 vessels have been captured by pirates, their crew ransomed and the funds possibly financing Al-Qeada. The situation had become so bad the UN famine relief effort had to discontinue food shipments by sea and revert to much more costly and inefficient overland routes.

The current emergency is complicated by some 14 years of fighting between warlords and chronic insecurity in much of the Horn of Africa country.

Continued conflict and piracy on the coast have prevented delivery of humanitarian food shipments to Somali ports while rival militia controlling roads and checkpoints demand payment for safe passage.

Finally, as is often the case, the US has come to deal with the problem. Last time I checked the US was not the only nation with a navy, but someone has to be the grown up so we have sent ships to secure the shipping lanes near the Horn of Africa.

U.S. Navy vessels pursued a suspected pirate ship in the Indian Ocean off Somalia's coast and fired warning shots to capture its crew on Saturday, U.S. Navy Forces Central Command said.

The guided missile destroyer Winston S. Churchill and other U.S. naval forces located the vessel after receiving a report of an attempted act of piracy, but it failed to respond to orders to stop.

"Churchill began aggressive maneuvering in an attempt to stop the vessel. The vessel continued on its course and speed. (Then) Churchill fired warning shots," said a Navy statement.

"(Later) Churchill fired additional warning shots, and at that time the crew of the suspect pirate vessel established communications by radio and indicated that they would begin sending personnel to the Churchill via their small boat in tow."

The crewmembers were seized and U.S. Navy sailors who boarded the vessel discovered small-arms weapons on board, the statement said. It did not say how many suspects were held.

I wonder if this will be made an example of American Imperialism by the likes of William Blum, author of Osama's most recent book review "Rogue State: A Guide to the World's Only Superpower". R. Blum who's book inspires many of the tinfoil hat crowd teaching on American collage campus' has experienced a windfall in the wake of Osama's endorsement of his work.

"I was not turned off by such an endorsement," he informed a New York radio station. "I'm not repulsed, and I'm not going to pretend I am." He patiently reiterated the thesis of his foreign-policy critique - that American interventions abroad create enemies.

So according to Blum this intervention will only increase the enemies of the US. Makes me wonder how many friends we would win if we just let the people of East Africa starve because of the pirates.
