I used to watch TV news and yell at the box. Now I jump up from the couch, sit at the computer and begin to type laughing maniacally saying "Wait until they read this." It's more fun than squashing tadpoles

Episcopal Church Offers Half a Soultion to Gay Bishops

The Episcopal Church in North America convened a council to look at the problem of ordaining openly gay bishops. Since the last convention when V. Gene Robinson who lives in a homosexual relationship was ordained as bishop, the North American Episcopal Church has been at odds with the world Anglican Church. This has caused a considerable divide within the North America's Episcopals bordering on a split. To rectify the situation this council was formed to make a recommendation to the next convention.

The solution offered by the council is merely to caution the church when considering homosexuals for ordination. In California there are five candidates for bishop, three of them are open homosexuals. Their statement implies that if the Episcopal church can lay low the Anglicans will come around and everything will be fine. The only problem with this strategy is it will satisfy neither side of the argument

The disagreement is between two groups representing competing visions of the authority of scripture. On one side are those who see scriptural interpretation subject to personal understanding and experience, while the other sees scripture as the divine authority governing personal understanding of God's will. The first group seeks to bring the church in line with society, where the second seeks to bring the church in line with God's Word. One to be a partner with the Postmodern world, the other the light of the world and the salt of the earth.

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men." Matthew 5:13
