Another Nationwide Strike Disrupts France
National protests continue in France as the government struggles to remain determined to rectify an untenable employment practice that guarantees lifetime employment. If they cave to the popular demands economic ruin is inevitable. Unfortunately they may loose their office and be replaced by politicians who will give the people what they want and ruin will come anyway.
One of the underlying principles of socialism is a desire to negate the risk/reward formula. The relationship of risk to reward is one that most people unknowingly assess every day. It is as simple as the choice of price verses quality or as complex as investing in new technology over proven methods. In France the country is embroiled in such a debate. The French have chosen a economic model that trades job creation for job security. They don't want to risk being fired so the reward of a dynamic job market suffers. Pproblem is their choice has led predictably to economic stagnation. The government understands that the country is at a crossroad. If nothing is done to change the situation the unemployment problem will get critical. Sadly it may be too late. The populist instincts of politicians and the siren of permanent job security has produced a population that is no longer dynamic. The population will unfortunately have to live through economic collapse before it can regain the will to face risk again.
