Once More Into the Breach

Finding Nonsense and Beating it Sensible

I used to watch TV news and yell at the box. Now I jump up from the couch, sit at the computer and begin to type laughing maniacally saying "Wait until they read this." It's more fun than squashing tadpoles

Michelle Obama, Proud American?

Michelle Obama sums up the liberal attatude toward America.

"Hope is making a comeback and, let me tell you, for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country. Not just because Barack is doing well, but I think people are hungry for change," she said during a rally in downtown Milwaukee.

"I have seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic common issues and it has made me proud," she told supporters.

Nothing in America has impressed her until now. Nothing.

I guess since people are enthusiastic about Obama bringing socialism to America the country really matters now. This is what progressives mean when they say they they are patriotic. They are loyal to a socialist American future, not to the nation we all know and love.

Maybe her husband can salute the flag now.

She is speaking in code. you know, like the 'code' republicans have supposedly been speaking to the south since Nixon. Only this code is to black people.
The pervasive opinion, due to years of opression politics, in the black community is that no black man will EVER be president. Racist white america would never allow it.
She, and if you listen to Barak he is as well, is saying that she had no hope of being an equal citizen, of a black man being the president, of america not being all about holding the black man down.
until Barak. He has become an icon. A symbol to blacks that what Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton have been driving them with since Dr King died is over. That the american dream DOES now include them. The change, the future not the past, his whole message is that if we elect him we put our racist past behind us.
And even though I fear his stalinist marxist philosophy will damage this country, I hope that if he wins then black Americans can stop bringing up their children with a message of hoplessness and victimhood.
Maybe then they can tell their children that they can be whatever they are willing to make of themselves.
And that they are Americans, and they can be PROUD of it.

While I would like to agree with you that the attitude of American black people would change with a Obama presidency, they have invested too much into what you call oppression politics to give it up so easily.

Perhaps the next generation.
