I used to watch TV news and yell at the box. Now I jump up from the couch, sit at the computer and begin to type laughing maniacally saying "Wait until they read this." It's more fun than squashing tadpoles

Day 11 Forty Day ‘Pray for Iran’ Campaign.

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8

Today the Christian world remembers and celebrates Pentecost, the day when God the Holy Spirit came and empowered the 120 followers of Christ with power to be His witnesses throughout the world.

‘Parthians, Medes and Elamites’ , the three main Iranian people groups, were present that day and heard the disciples supernaturally declaring the wonders of God in their own native tongues (Acts 2:9,11). And so the Iranian church was birthed on the day of Pentecost.

Despite being marked by persecution and martyrdom, the church flourished and there was a point when there were millions of Iranian Christians. Iranian believers took the Gospel across the region and they were the first to send missionaries to China.

Today the church in Iran desperately needs another visitation. So as we celebrate Pentecost we want to ask the Lord to once again pour out His Spirit:

* Pray that Iranian believers will be filled with the Holy Spirit and receive power from on high. Pray that the Spirit of God would enable them to stand with courage and boldness and bear witness to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
* Pray that the descendents of the Parthians, Medes and Elamites will recognize the power of God as their forefathers did 2,000 years ago. Pray that Iran will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord.
* Pray that Iran would once again become a major missionary sending nation. Pray for the few Iranian missionaries who have already begun to take the message of the love of Christ to other unreached peoples.

May the Lord bless you this Pentecost and empower you in your own life and ministry.
