Georgia governor signs sweeping immigration law
"It's our responsibilityto ensure that our famous Georgia hospitality is not abused, that our taxpayers are not taken advantage of and that our citizens are protected," Perdue said before signing the law.Not a difficult concept. This is the statement Gov. Perdue made when signing the illegal immigration bill passed by the Georgia Legislature. In the bill illegals are prevented from receiving taxpayer financed state benefits and employers are required to verify the status of employees. The Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce complained the this was a punitive bill. Duh, illegal activity is supposed to be punished.
One can only hope that more politicians will find this kind of respect for the citizens that they are supposed to represent. It is a slap in the face of all law abiding people, both citizens and those wishing to become such, for politicians to be pandering to the illegal immigrants.

|WooHoo! Good for Perdue!
How can the same state elect someone like him Governor, and turn around and send a racist hyperthyroid arrogant disgrace like Cynthia McKinney to Congress?
Doug in Colorado (partly raised in Georgia)
Good question. When I consider that, I remember western Maryland and upstate NewYork, both mostly rural areas under the thumb of heavily populated, and predominately liberal, urban areas.
Democracy is mob rule.
