Hecklers Cause Coulter to Cut Speech
Conservative columnist Ann Coulter gave up trying to finish a speech at the University of Connecticut on Wednesday night when boos and jeers from the audience became overwhelming. Coulter cut off the talk after 15 minutes and instead held a half-hour question-and-answer session
Coulter's appearance prompted protests from several groups, including Students Against Hate and the Puerto Rican/Latin American Cultural Center. They criticized her for spreading a message of hate and intolerance.
So Student's Against Hate won't tolerate her speaking on campus. Here's a statement from the founder.
Eric Knudsen, a 3rd-semester journalism and social welfare double major organized a group called Students Against Hate in response. The group plans to create a positive Counter-Coulter event, where students can "share their distinct cultures with one another and the campus in one culminating event."
Knudsen said he is not opposed to a diversity of ideas on campus. Rather he opposes Coulter because, "[she] expresses more than her political views-she makes death threats."
He referenced a statement Coulter made at the 2002 Conservative Political Action Conference about John Walker Lindh, the American citizen captured during the 2001 invasion of Afghanistan.
And the death threat he's so concerned about?
"When contemplating college liberals, you really regret once again that John Walker is not getting the death penalty," Coulter said at the conference. "We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too."
If Mr. Knudsen is involved in the violent overthrow of the US Government then he does have something to be concerned about, as he should be. But then we are dealing with a first year journalism and social welfare double major. In Mr. Knudsen's world diversity and tolerance is a one way street. He's more intimidated by punishment for treason than attack from our enemies.

Actually if he's an American citizen he should be given a fair trial and subsequently executed. If he's not an American citizen then we can probably spare ourselves the trial.

Well if we believe what he believes and we feel what he feels when he feels it we would probably get along just fine. Reality being neither warm, fuzzy nor especially tractable I cant imagine that circumstance, nor would I want to feel what he'll feel when reality does intrude itself into his world.
