I used to watch TV news and yell at the box. Now I jump up from the couch, sit at the computer and begin to type laughing maniacally saying "Wait until they read this." It's more fun than squashing tadpoles

Coffee, You Can Sleep When You're Dead

The good news on the diet front just keeps on coming. I thought all was well when The Washington Times reported a study finding chocolate to be full of antioxidants. Now Fox News has a report on an extensive study that finds significant health benefits for large amounts of coffee consumption.
The Nurses' Health Study started in 1976. The Health Professionals Follow-Up Study started 10 years later. Upon enrollment, participants had no history of heart disease and were in their mid- 40s to early 50s, on average.

About 44,000 men and more than 84,400 women took part. They updated their health information every two years. Every two to four years, they also completed dietary questionnaires, including information on coffee consumption.
The study claimed that 4 cups a day actually lowered the risk of heart disease. The article on the web site does not include the claim in the interview on the Fox News Channel where the interviewee also claimed that men who drank six cups a day also had a lowered risk of type 2 diabetes. Ha! Now I have a health drink every morning, a cup of coffee (it has to be the filtered kind. not expressio), Splenda instead of sugar, 1/8 tsp. cinnamon (fights type 2 diabetes), 1/2 tsp. extra dark cocoa, creamer, six cups a day. Life is good!

I'm waiting for that study that says doughnuts prevent obesity.
