Death Penalty for Becoming Christian in Afghanistan
Islam has been facing some stiff competition. That is the only way to justify such incentives as 72 Virgins when one blows oneself up, or this report that it is a capital crime to stop being Moslem.
Despite the fact the hardline Taliban regime is no longer in power, an Afghan man faces possible execution for allegedly abandoning his Islamic roots and becoming a Christian.
"Yes that's true, a man has converted to Christianity. He's being tried in one of our courts," Supreme Court judge Ansarullah Mawlavizada told the Middle East Times.
The case centers on Abdul Rahman, believed to be 41, who converted from Islam to Christianity some 16 years ago. His relatives reportedly notified authorities about the conversion.
The constitution in Afghanistan is based on Shariah law, which states any Muslim who rejects his or her religion should be sentenced to death.
"We are not against any particular religion in the world. But in Afghanistan, this sort of thing is against the law," the judge told the Associated Press. "It is an attack on Islam. ... The prosecutor is asking for the death penalty."
What kind of nonsense in this "We are not against any particular religion in the world. But in Afghanistan, this sort of thing is against the law,"? One can't say they are not against any other religion when one is willing to kill someone for choosing a different one. This is not a path to joining the civilized world nor for encouraging others to consider Islam as religious practice. For the world to see Islam as something other that a dagger at its throat, dropping this case and removing this law would be a good place to start.

|Say what you wish and point your mortal finger at your brothers and shake your fist.
Judgment is GODS and GODS alone.
Judge your brother lest you be judged.
I my not agree with the Muslim faith as it is not my faith, but I will not judge it for that is GODS arena.
I do wish to say this;this yet another sign we are in the final days.
Amen and glory to GOD and his son Jesus Christ!
Though we should not judge our brother as to his position with God, we are commanded to test the spirits which is what religions represent. 1 John 4:1
If what the spirit of Islam produces is this kind of judgement for a convert then it is not a spirit from God. The same can be said of those who practiced the inquisition, they served a spirit other than that from God, you know by the fruit they bore.
Galatians 5:19-22 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control.
Ok, I have re-read the article that this tread was started by. I have also read each post with great interest. Let’s look at this with an open mind. Most of us Westerners have little to no clue as to the true teachings of Muhammad. (May be incorrectly spelled – forgive me) We know what we have been told and what we have read. We have formed our opinion based on this. There are a few Westerners that have actually followed through and researched these teachings.
Many Islamic people claim it is a religion of peace. Ok, it may be if taught and studied in that context; although others may no teach and study Islam in that context. The same has happened in Christian realms through the centuries.
What I mainly see is that the people in power use their religion to remain in power. Fear is a very powerful tool. Look how the Caesar’s of Rome and Hitler used fear as a tool to gain and retain power.
These countries that all these terrible things are happening are countries there is little to no democracy, only those you have and those who have not.
Here is the question; is it the religion that is bad or the leaders that use the religion to gain and retain their power?
Just something to think about!
I am a Christian and believe in the Holly Trinity. It is not my place to judge lest I be judged. Praise GOD the Father and His Son Jesus Christ to give us faith, strength and the wisdom to see the world as it truly is, amen!
