Finding Nonsense and Beating it Sensible

I used to watch TV news and yell at the box. Now I jump up from the couch, sit at the computer and begin to type laughing maniacally saying "Wait until they read this." It's more fun than squashing tadpoles

King Eulogists Can't Behave at Funeral

One would have thought that the liberals had learned something from their crass display of naked politics at the memorial to Sen. Wellstone, but that would require that they had a sense of shame. Crude behavior is still in fashion on the left. From Cindy Sheehan waving her son's bloody shirt and Code Pink protesting the war in front of Walter-Reed to the rude politics displayed at Coretta Scott King's funeral.
.
Speakers took a rare opportunity to criticize U.S. President George W. Bush's policies to his face at the funeral on Tuesday of Coretta Scott King, widow of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

Civil-rights leader the Rev. Joseph Lowery and former President Jimmy Carter cited Mrs. King's legacy as a leader in her own right and advocate of nonviolence as they launched barbs over the Iraq war, government social policies and Bush's domestic eavesdropping program.

Former President Bill Clinton, a favorite among mainstream civil rights leaders, was able to offer a teasing hint of the possible presidential candidacy of his wife, New York Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Such a total lack of perspective. Makes one wonder if there is anything sacred to these people other that politics. They act like the relative that comes to all the family functions just to have a few too many and air the dirty laundry. It's no wonder that the press made such a big deal that the President was going to attend. They probably knew the rude treatment he would receive since they would likely do the same so were looking forward to it.

I'll give President Bush his due. He handled it as a gentleman would, his most harsh rebuttal was this.

Bush, speaking before his critics, said, "By going forward with a strong and forgiving heart, Coretta Scott King not only secured her husband's legacy, she built her own."

The significance of this line which was probably written before hand I'm sure is completely lost on those other less circumspect speakers in attendance.

Update 22:05 7 Feb 2006: If the quotes above don't match with the article I linked with it is because the Post has changed the article at that address. to see the original wording that I used for the quotations go here.
The authors are the same but the title and content were changed.

There was violation of descency on many planes without political alignment. Don't forget...cameras were on.

While I am not a fan of President Bush, I admired that he and his wife stayed for 3 hours of a 6 hour funeral.
